This month we’re celebrating the success of our £100,000 garden appeal with an official ‘Garden Opening Day’.  Our appeal has enabled us to add several new pieces of equipment to the Tim Lamb Centre garden and we are keen to mark the occasion.  We have even invited some young VIP guests along to cut the ribbon.  We are just keeping our fingers crossed the weather stays dry on Wednesday.

What the majority of our families won’t realise, however, is the significance of the timing of our celebration.  So we are taking a look back to February 2012 when our charity first started work on the garden.

In 2011 Pathways 4 All won a £60,000 grant from the People’s Millions to develop a playground for disabled children.  The playground was designed and the equipment was ordered.  But the plot of land the equipment was to be sited on, was not ready.  The garden area behind the now Tim Lamb Centre was overgrown and had been used as a dumping ground.  There was a lot of preparation work needed.

So it was in February 2012 that a group of parent volunteers set to work on cutting down the shrubs and clearing away the mess.  We owe much gratitude to those hard-working volunteers, as they worked tirelessly in cold and sometimes wet conditions to prepare the land.

And today it looks like this…
