In January 2020, we set ourselves an ambitious fundraising target of £100,000. We wanted to raise this money to improve the play-garden area at the Tim Lamb Centre, adding some more inclusive sensory equipment. Although we knew this was no small task, we were motivated, kicking starting our campaign off with a Leap Year’s Day FUNdraiser. But then, just 2 weeks later, Covid 19 sent us all into lockdown. Our specialist centre closed and our fundraiser events calendar, abandoned. We remained closed for 15 long months.

We were therefore absolutely delighted to reach our £100,000 fundraising target by the end of 2021, despite the pandemic. This has enabled us to purchase 4 new large pieces of playground equipment, add a new sensory path and interactive panels. We have also been able to fit all-weather surfacing under our swings area and an accessible pathway between the equipment areas.

We are indebted to the charities and local businesses who have provided us with grants towards our project. We are also extremely grateful to all of our families, friends and kind local supporters, who generously donated towards our target too.

We have now had all our new equipment installed and are pleased to be able to share our achievements with you.

Our first major purchase was our new Cruise Line which was kindly funded by The Sun 50 Fund.

Our new wheelchair accessible swing has been kindly funded by the Morrisons Foundation.

Our Inclusive Sensory Tower was kindly funded by the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, which is funded entirely by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The new inclusive roundabout was funded with a kind grant from the Bernard Sunley Foundation.

Our Funny Faces interactive board is guaranteed to make you smile, kindly funded by Tesco.

Our Lead Guitar play panel was kindly funded by The Percy Bilton Charity.

And The Percy Bilton Charity also funded our interactive musical drums panel too.

Our colourful sensory path was funded by a kind donation from Muckle LLP and the generosity of our supporters who donated to our spring 2021 fundraiser.

We are very grateful to The Clothworkers Foundation for their grant towards our project. Some of it was used to fund all weather surfacing under our existing swings.

The Clothworkers Foundation generous grant also enabled us to complete our accessible pathway that connects our equipment.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Persimmon Homes Building Futures and The Pride of Britain Fund for their kind charitable grants towards our project.

Likewise, we are very grateful to both Alnwick Castle and TLW Solicitors who have also made a valuable contribution.

And finally, we want to say a special thank you to all our families and friends who hosted Facebook Fundraisers for our campaign.

The most rewarding part of any project like this one, is seeing the delight on all the children’s faces.

We officially re-opened the playground on Wednesday 23rd of February, inviting families and supporters along to celebrate with us.

With big THANKS to...
