#FindTheFlock

We are delighted to have been chosen to host a sheep, as part of the Illuminated Sheep Art Trail.  The art trail celebrates the return of the Lindisfarne Gospels to our region.  We’re very privileged to be the only venue outside of Northumberland to be involved, chosen of course, because our specialist centre has a sheep-related name, the Tim Lamb Centre.

The individually designed, life-sized flock, have already been on display at three Northumberland venues during October; Bamburgh Castle, Vindolanda and Woodhorn Musem.  On Tuesday 18th October the entire flock went to Hexham Auction Market where hosts patiently waited for the chance to bid for their new companion.  Our charity founder and voluntary CEO, Lynn McManus, went along to the event. Not one to miss an opportunity, Lynn went dressed as our very own charity mascot.

We are now the proud hosts to one of the sheep; joining us until the end of November.

Illuminated Sheep #FindTheFlock

As a host, we got to name the sheep and dress it up, so on Friday 21st October, members of our Distinctive Youth Club held a naming ceremony.  We’ve named our sheep ‘Lamb Fender‘ in honour of North Tyneside’s very own rock n roll superstar Sam Fender.  We hope Sam will like our dedication.  Maybe, just maybe, we could even persuade him to drop by for a Sam and Lamb photo opportunity… here’s hoping!

Throughout November, Lamb Fender will be dressed to impress all our local visitors who are taking part in the #FindTheFlock trail.  Lamb Fender can be found next to our own Tim Lamb in the small ornamental garden next to our centre.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have your photo taken and be part of this local art event.   Please tag us in your photos on social media…

UPDATE:

Lamb Fender returned to Hexham Abbey on the 1st December and took part in the Festival of Flame on Friday 2nd December.

We feel very privileged to have been part of the #FindtheFlock trail and we would like to thank the Illuminated Sheep project for this opportunity.
